Russia wants other states to use Iranian settlement mechanism
PARIS, Feb 13 (PRIME) -- Russia is interested in Germany, France, and the U.K. unlocking the INSTEX mechanism they use for settlements with Iran for other states, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told reporters late on Tuesday.
“Much attention was paid to the situation around the Iranian nuclear program and compliance with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. The Europeans have worked out interesting ideas here,” he said.
“We’ve confirmed our interest in opening the INSTEX mechanism, which the three European states have created and are launching, to other states including Russia, as it would raise its efficiency and the Iranian colleagues will be able to feel the bonuses and profits from continued cooperation with the European and other states, which is lacking now taking into account the strengthening pressure on Tehran, more clearly and substantively.”
